Young Carers

Definition of a young carer:

Young carers are children and young people under 18, who's life is restricted by the need to take responsibility for a person who is either:

chronically ill, has a disability, is experiencing mental distress, is affected by alcohol and/ or substance misuse or is elderly or infirm.

The person you may be caring for could be:

A parent, a brother or sister, grandparent or other relative who is disabled, has some chronic illness, mental health problem or other condition connected with a need for care, support or supervision.
